On July 19, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially released the national standard GB 4943.1-2022 “Audio/ Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment — Part 1: Safety Requirements”, and the new national standard will be officially implemented on August 1, 2023 , replacing GB 4943.1-2011, GB 8898-2011 standards.

The predecessor of GB 4943.1-2022 is “Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements” and “Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Equipment Safety Requirements”, these two national standards have been used as the testing basis by Compulsory Product Certification (CCC).

GB 4943.1-2022 mainly has two outstanding improvements:

- The scope of application is further expanded. GB 4943.1-2022 integrates the two original standards, covering all products of audio, video, information technology and communication technology equipment, in line with the development trend of the industry;

- Technically optimized and upgraded, energy classification is proposed. GB 4943.1-2022 comprehensively considers possible sources of danger in six aspects such as electric shock, fire, overheating, and sound and light radiation during the use of various electronic products, and proposes corresponding protection Requirements and test methods help electronic product safety protection to be precise, scientific, and standardized.

The implementation requirements of the new standard:

- From the date of publication of this notice to July 31, 2023, enterprises can voluntarily choose to implement certification according to the new version of the standard or the old version of the standard. From August 1, 2023, the certification body will adopt the new version of the standard for certification and issue the new version of the standard certification certificate, and will no longer issue the old version of the standard certification certificate.

- For products that have been certified according to the old version of the standard, the holder of the old version of the standard certification certificate should submit an application for the conversion of the new version of the standard certification to the certification body in time, supplement the difference test between the old and new version of the standard, and ensure that after the implementation date of the standard, the new version of the standard is completed. Product confirmation and certificate renewal work. The conversion of all old standard certification certificates should be completed by July 31, 2024 at the latest. If it is not expected to be completed, the certification body will suspend the old standard certification certificates. Revoke the old authentication certificate.

- For certified products that have been shipped, put on the market and no longer produced before August 1, 2023, no certificate conversion is required.
